Lenovo opens first European manufacturing facility in Hungary

China’s IT giant Lenovo has officially launched its first manufacturing plant in Hungary, focusing primarily on building server infrastructure, storage systems and high-end PC workstations for customers in Europe, the Middle East, and African, according to an Evertiq report on June 15.

Covering an area of nearly 50,000 square meters across two three-story buildings located in Ullo, the new factory is one of Lenovo's largest production bases. It has a capacity of producing more than 1,000 servers and 4,000 workstations per day, the report said. 

Lenovo said in a press release that the investment represents significant economic potential for both the Hungarian private and public sectors, including increased capacity, greater cooperation potential with local suppliers, and creating new jobs. 

The facility already employs more than 1,000 full-time staff engaged in engineering, management and operational roles and the number will continue to increase as the plant goes into full operation, said the company.
