China’s IC output falls by 17% to 44.3 billion units in the first two months of 2023

(JW Insights) Mar 20 -- China’s integrated circuits output posted a 17% year-on-year decline to 44.3 billion units in the first two months of 2023, data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recently showed.

In January and February, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 2.4% year-on-year. From a month-on-month perspective, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 0.12% in February, NBS’s data showed.

In the first two months of 2023, the added value of 22 major industries maintained a year-on-year growth. Among them, the general equipment manufacturing industries decreased by 1.3%, while the specialized equipment manufacturing increased by 3.9%. The automobile manufacturing industry decreased by 1.0%. The manufacturing of computers, communications, and other electronic equipment decreased by 2.6%.

In the first two months of 2023, China’s output of automobiles was 3.653 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 14.0%, of which the output of new energy vehicles was 970,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 16.3%.

The output of microcomputer equipment was 46.04 million units, down by 21.9% year-on-year, while the output of mobile communication handsets was 203.71 million units, down by 4.8% year-on-year, showed statistics from NBS.
