The Phase II of the Suzhou facility will have a two-story production workshop with an annual production capacity of over 1.8 million inverters. It will also include a four-story R&D Center to house 450 people. The center will serve the global markets, focusing on the full range of electronics design, including power electronics, inverters, and DC/DC converters.

According to BorgWarner executives, the company will expand its R&D team in Suzhou and equip the center with more testing equipment to further enhance the design, prototyping, and testing capabilities for new energy electronic control products.

This expansion project has a total construction area of 22,474 square meters. It is expected to be completed in December 2022 and start production in mid-2023. The company aims at building it into a world-class intelligent production site, with an automation level of over 90% and 100% equipment networked.

Headquartered in Michigan, U.S., and founded in 1928, BorgWarner is a globally leading supplier of innovative and sustainable solutions for the vehicle market. The company is committed to working towards a clean and energy-efficient world. Its products comprise key technologies for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles.
